Jaffa Tel Aviv Bakery
The Best Bakery in Jaffa - Tel Aviv.
Last weekend in Tel Aviv I walked down to old Jaffa. The I found this fantastic old traditional bakery. People were standing in line waiting for the fresh baked food to come out of the owen.
If you are in Tel Aviv and goes to Jaffa stop at the main street called Yefet Street at Bakery Said Abulafia & Sons. Have something great to eat and then pick up some fresh Pomegranate juice to accompany that!

Sakura-Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Nakano Tokyo Hanami
Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo
Every spring the blossoming of the cherry trees brings spring to Japan. The Japanese go crazy and bring out their families to sit under the trees and have picknick in the parks werever there are cherry trees. When I am in Tokyo in spring I like to head to Nakano just a 5 minutes ride with JR train  from Shinjuku station. Here you find not only beautiful parks in pink but the roads are also covered with sakuras. When the petals fall down its like walking in snow! The blooming is in late March and early April in Tokyo.
Do as the Japanese - Bring your camera!

Yodobashi Camera Akihabara
Paradise for shoppers of cameras, phones, computers, household goods and toys!
Yodobashi started out as a camera store but how have this huge shops all over Japan! You can easily spend a few hours here on the 9 floors. Here you find the biggest selection you can imagine of technology goods. If you need a tripod for you camera you can get lost among more then 400 hundred of them! Same with all the items! If you can not find it here you can hardly find it at any other store in Japan.
I have been coming to Yodobashi for over 20 years to the Shinjuku store but in this store in Akihabara you can stay longer as you have a restaurant floor when you need some rest and get hungry.

Punta Tombo - Penguins in Argentina

Penguins Punta Tombo Argentina
If you like wildlife and happens to be  in Argentina take a 2 hours flight down to Trelew from Buenos Aires. About 100 km south of Trelew you find Punta Tombo were about 500.000 penguins come back from the Atlantic to give birth. First the males come to prepare the nests in early November and 2 weeks later the females come to the shores.
The females listen to the sounds given by the males so they can find the nest and their partner. The eggs and baby penguins are taken care of by both parents and they take turns to go down to the ocean to find food for their baby. They stay here until late April when they leave the nest and spend 6 months in the Atlantic again.

Most tourists stay in Puerto Madryn 50 km north of Trelew and take tours here over the day. There are plenty of local agencies downtown that arrange daytrips.

Hoshokaku Ryokan in Takayama, Japan

Hoshokaku Ryokan Takayama
You can not visit Japan without spending at least one night in an traditional exclusive Ryokan or a more family style Minshuku. In these places you usually have great Japanese dinners and breakfasts included in the price. You do not need to bring any special clothes as you will get a yukata ( bathrobe ) to use when you walk around the Ryokan as well as during dinner. Select one that has and hot spring bath (onsen) and preferably with an outside bath (rotenburo)
Over the years I have visited the great Ryokan of Hoshokaku in the old city of Takayama. A great place to have a true Japanese stay!

Char Bar at Hotel Indigo, Shanghai

Char Bar Hotel Indigo Shanghai
When in Shanghai I always try to visit the great rooftop bar and restaurant Char at Indigo Hotel.
This supercool hotel has mixture of contemporary China and the Shanghai of the 1930th.
It is the place to have a drink during sunset with the cool crowd of Shanghai and enjoy the spectacular view of the modern skyline of Pudong and Huangpu river. If it rains or if it is to hot outside the bar inside is the place to be.
