Kururi Tenugui store in Kamakura, Japan

Kamakura bath towel Japanese
The Tenugui is a traditional Japanese bath towel or a cloth to be used folded as a head band. These used to be one of the few privte things in a household in the old times but now they are used more as gifts or as table cloth or decorations. The Kururi store in the city of Kamakura about 50 minutes ride with a local train from Tokyo has a great selection of them as you can see on the pictures. They make great gift or you have to get one if you are to take part of a traditional Matsuri festival in Japan.

Hida Beef Box Lunch at Takayama Station

Takayama Box Lunch
In the mountain town of Takayama at the station they do sell ekiben ( boxlunchen) to bring on to the train as they do at almost every station in Japan. These boxes are both healthy, fresh and have nice presentation. The region on Hida were Takayama is located is famous for good Hida beef. Here at the train station you can buy a box lunch that you can't find at many places around Japan. The box has something in the part under the food that as you pull the thread that comes out of a small hole that part starts to get hot and in 5 minutes you beef dish is cooked. Don't ask me how it works but everyone just loves it when the nice smell of cooked beef comes out as you open the lid! A must buy in Takayama as you leave with the train!

14 July in Paris

14 Juillet Paris
14th of July is the French National Day. It is a great evening to be in Paris. Around 22.30 in the evening there is a huge firework over the city and the Eiffel Tower is lit up with 20.000 lamp bulbs  that sparkles in the dark.
The best place to be is to go the Eiffel Tower already during the day as there are usually shows and music there. People stand by Place Trocadero but there it can be really crowded. You have a great view from the bridges over the river Seine or the shores by the Concorde.
